What about the United Arab Emirates Wrong?

When I arrived here three years ago, I had never lived outside of Australia. Off I had no idea of Arab culture and Islam, and Naeve was the expectation that a country would buy with wealth incomprehensible, "all their problems. Now I find that, contrary to my expectations, creates problems of its own money here as elsewhere.

I have already experienced problems of welfare dependency among Aboriginal Australians, "sit-down to get money, literally, so they find their placeBlack butts and do nothing. Why should I expect it to be different here?

The truth is that finding huge oil deposits there a few decades ago, most of the 830,000 odd Emirates them on stage, now largely ruined moribund. With a surplus of money that they can enter other values, not just to do their dirty work, but everything else. This is largely unmotivated to a younger population to work, poorly educated, spoiled by access to large LEDQuantity of food (especially high in fats, sugars), high-motor, Whiz-bang electronics, and therefore, high rates of mortality from lifestyle diseases (diabetes has reached epidemic proportions is) and traffic problems.

The government of the Emirates, much to his credit, tries to address many of these abuses. For example, a program that Emiratisation Emirates to enter jobs. This is accompanied by free education at all levels, but it is a failure, in particularFor the same reason that the recruitment of domestic and Development Program was a failure in Australia: the vulnerability of people in jobs because of a certain race or nationality, not as a source of capable, motivated individuals ready to work. While the state authorities and parastatal, a handful (9%), rent the private sector (with only 1%) of the United avoid like the plague, simply because a return on investment very poor. When you hire a worker in India who is 12 worksHours a day, six days a week and give his heart and soul into work, because Emirates is a job 'shy?

Moreover, the effects of some Islamic religious and cultural practices, from all that road safety, the number of women in the workforce. A few drivers have told me that wearing a seat belt an affront to God, because it is almost like saying that I do not believe it to protect you. Given the evidence of a road, the mortality rate is among the highest, if not thehighest in the world, it is difficult, this kind of logic, especially when many of the deaths are justified Muslims.

Although the way of life here is idyllic for well-educated, Western expatriates there are hundreds of thousands of exploited workers and Asian Indians, for whom life must be hell. Are the maids, drivers, construction workers and laborers who work incredibly long hours for little pay and are often treated badly. With a handful of white jackets, they are thevast majority of the population, 90% of the emigrants.

Therefore, we believe that the expatriate schools, power plants, water supply, communications, hospitals, and everything else running. This has the potential to be a big problem for example, if you have decided on a militant Islamic group, to collect some places where expatriates bomb. Many foreigners who leave the country, and would literally a setback.

Like many companies that have passed from other cultures seem more advancedMaintain a balance among the worst in the West and the best of Arab-Islamic culture is becoming increasingly difficult. Levels of prostitution, drugs, alcohol and crime in the city "progressive", as Dubai slowly eroded the values of Islam and the culture change, perhaps the worst.

The noise of construction in Dubai, was in a hostile mass of continuous evolution, winding streets and transport stuffed the snake through the desert dust of this or that shopping center. One day it might become a target of choice for the wealthy, but there is currently an over-populated, polluted city, where hundreds of thousands of overpriced homes will be built for those who know who.

I have immensely enjoyed my stay here and the opportunity to appreciate the company attractive especially warm and welcoming experience of the people. But I have a great concern that the country is heading in the wrong direction. And yet I wonder how a betteroff we all would be if some of this wealth was to be transmitted to millions of people die of hunger in the area, rather than another mall or the world, a high tower before.
