Each year in May in the Philippines there is a festival that takes place as the "Flores de Mayo". This is a Catholic event in honor of the Virgin Mary. "Flores de Mayo" is a Spanish word for "Flores" derived from flowers and "Mayo" can draw means to come with flowers in May. This is a festival that by the Spaniards during their long rule introduced in the Philippines.
During these months would be, children will be offered in the church with flowers and baskets of petals, the Virgin Mary. WhenI was a child my mother had sent me a holiday in our city. Regular Flores de Mayo and after the sacrifice and prayers were attended had gathered around a circle and sit on the lawn outside the church.
